Takizawa City

Takizawa Ainosawa hot spring, with its commanding view of Mt. Iwate, is a health promotion facility that can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike. The bordering Mt. Kurakake provides a light hiking course. This mountain is featured in 'The Scenic Areas of Ihatov' by Kenji Miyazawa and has since been nationally designated a place of scenic beauty. The City-run Ainosawa campsite located at the foot of the mountain and the Umagaeshi campsite at the entrance to Mt. Iwate's Yagisawa hiking trail come alive with many visitors during the summer months.
On the second Saturday of June, the 'Chagu Chagu Umakko' Festival takes place in Michinoku to mark the beginning of summer. Over 100 colorfully-attired horses are led from Onikoshisozen shrine in Takizawa City to the Morioka Hachimangu shrine amidst the sound of ringing bells. This traditional yearly event draws many visitors from all over the country.
