Shizukuishi Town

The town of Shizukuishi spreads out over the southern foot of Iwate Prefecture's highest peak, Mt. Iwate. An area of agriculture and tourism, Shizukuishi offers a wealth of nature, hot springs and ski resorts, as well as the historical privately-owned Koiwai Farm founded in 1891 (Year 24 of the Meiji Era). Come and enjoy the rich seasonal colors and discover this landscape so loved by Japanese author Kenji Miyazawa.
Notable events include the monthly Keitoraichi market held on the first Sunday of every month between May and November, and the Yoshare Festival. Come have fun, and get to know the locals.
