Kazuno City

The city of Kazuno is located at the northeasternmost part of Akita Prefecture and roughly in the center of the three northern Tohoku prefectures. Bordered by Aomori Prefecture to the north and Iwate Prefecture to the east, the city is within reach of Lake Towada to the north and Hachimantai National Park to the south. The city has two interchanges, Kazuno Hachimantai and Towada, placing the city within an hour's reach of other major cities such as Morioka, Aomori and Hachinohe.
Route 282, the Tohoku Expressway and the JR Hanawa Line run along the Yoneshiro River and the Kazuno Basin.
Main tourist hot spots include the Hachimantai hot spring village (hot spring health resort), Yuze hot spring, Oyu hot spring, the historical Osarizawa mine and the Oyukanjoresseki (Jomon remains, a nationally-designated special historic site).
