The history of Tsunagi Hot Springs goes back to the end of the Heian Era, when Minamoto no Yoshiie and Abe no Sadato fought the Zenkunen War (1051-1062). Yoshiie discovered this hot springs when he established a base in the area. He tied his horse to a nearby rock that had a hole in it, and bathed in the hot springs. That rock came to be called “tsunagi-rock,” or tying rock, and it is said that this is where Tsunagi Hot Springs got its name. The water itself in this historical Tsunagi Hot Springs is a clear, simple sulfuric mineral water that has a reputation for being effective at soothing nerve pain and poor circulation among other things. In addition to the beautiful outdoor bath, there are various styles of bath in the complex, making it quite enjoyable to explore the baths.
Oshuku Hot Springs (Shizukuishi)

Long ago, a nightingale soaked a wound in these waters and was healed. With more than 450 years of history, this hot springs still has a powerful stream of more than three thousand liters per minute. A charming little hot springs town of traditional inns and hotels spans over two kilometers here. Each of the different inns has its own character, allowing visitors to choose a destination that suits them best.
Oshuku Hot Springs also allows guests not spending the night to use their baths, and near the Oshuku Hot Springs Tourist Center there is a free foot-bath at Uguisuyu Sato Park.

The first hot springs facility in Iwate Prefecture to be designated by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare for its health promoting properties. There is also an indoor pool, tennis court, and multipurpose grounds.
The large bath area has a European-style western bath as well as two types of Japanese-style baths: a stone bath and a cypress wood bath. Both areas have expansive outdoor baths. The hot spring is simple alkaline mineral water that is very soft on the skin and has many benefits including soothing nervous tension, muscle pain, and joint pain.
After you get out of the bath, enjoy a meal at Ajidokoro Azumane, our restaurant that uses local foods. You can sate your hunger with local products including soba noodles made with buckwheat grown in Shiwa and delicious beef raised in Shiwa. We recommend the soft serve ice cream for dessert.

Located at the foot of Mt. Nanshozan, Yahaba Hot Springs is called Nansho no Yu. The water, simple alkaline mineral water, is effective at keeping bathers young and beautiful. It is gentle on the skin, so even elderly people can bathe there without worry.

A hot springs town spreads out along the Yuze Gorge of the Yoneshiro River near the border of Iwate, Akita, and Aomori. Yuze Gorge is a picturesque place counted as one of the 30 great sights of Akita prefecture. It is strikingly beautiful during all four seasons. Yuze Hot Springs gets its name from the rapids where it gushed out. It is an Alkaline simple hot spring. These waters are very effective in promoting beautiful skin, and it is famous as one of the three beautiful skin springs along with Kawanaka Hot Springs in Gunma and Ryujin Hot Springs in Wakayama.
